As a college student in the early 1980's, I married young and briefly, and had two abortions. I trusted a man who turned out not to be trustworthy. I believed myself enough to know I did not want children with him and that I was not at all ready to have a family. It was a time when abortion was legal and accessible, which now seems fortunate and precious, though I didn't realize it then.
