Exhibit opening at KPC, refreshed websites, and a new chapter with Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic
Happy fall time.
Summer in Alaska is bright. SO bright.
A steady bliss.
It feels like an uncharted meandering trail of delight.
Ideas and possibilities, even whimsical!
But it is fall in Alaska that is the crescendo.
It's the garden's turn to encourage you to harvest, rather than your turn to encourage it to produce.
Transition is here.
This is when future growth can be envisioned.
It's the exhale, the retraction, the space created.
It's grief and it's joy.
And the light is now more reasonable.
This helps bedtimes to become more reasonable.
And yes, we all love that.
It's the season for fire cider.
Fire cider is not whimsical.
It's bold and gold. And powerful.
Kenai Peninsula College exhibit
I'll be exhibiting "Mother of..." portraits at the Kenai Peninsula College from October 1 - 28th, with a reception and artist talk on Thursday, October 1st at 5:30pm. This is a series that is ongoing. Thank you to Kenai Peninsula College for hosting my work and I hope you'll come out to join me for the opening.
An alignment in the workplace
Big News! I have accepted the position of Development Director at Kachemak Bay Family Planning Clinic! After thirteen years at Bunnell Street Arts Center I am a full-body yes! to KBFPC's mission to provide quality reproductive health care services and education to the Kenai peninsula. I'm beyond excited to join the dreamy team, lead by an impassioned board, in a place I've loved since I drove over Baycrest.
The first question I was asked in my interview was, Why are you interested in working with KBFPC? And then you all stepped into the room with me. Our work together helped me immediately identify this opportunity and act upon it. Would you believe that everything opened up? My art practice has brought me here, it has simply led me deeper into my authentic purpose.
It also helps I have a genuine enthusiasm of connecting people with missions they believe in. We've got lots good work to do together!
((I'm also week two into reading The Artist's Way, again, with a group of beloveds, so it seems like a great time to pitch it you too. Forever thank you to Myesha for the encouragement to read it a few years back. Artist or not, I invite you to go on it's 12-week journey. It's rich.))
Websites revamp!
My artist website and Momologue Collective website, both received some much-needed organization, updating and definition along side my trusted friend and creative digital collaborator, Bianca van der Meulen. (Highly recommend working with her- She's a gifted listener who gets to the heart quick.) Please give the sites both a "twirl around" as Amy Komar brilliantly says, and let me know what you think. Main goals I had were
To delineate The Momologue Collective as my social art practice (and reference archive) which informs my individual studio practice as a painter, playwright and performer.
